CONSTRUCTION WORKS ONGOING ON THE 1KM BYPASS ROAD FROM COLUMBA JUNCTION TO DATUS, 1st April 2026

Cutting the sod for the construction of a 1-kilometre bypass road linking Columba Junction toDatus a fortnight ago. This important infrastructure project forms part of our broader commitment to improving road connectivity, easing traffic congestion, and enhancing economic activities within the municipality. The new bypass will not only provide an alternative route for commuters but also facilitate the smooth movement of goods and services, ultimately boosting local commerce and improving daily life for our residents. In line with our vision for sustained development, plans are being advanced to extend this initiative elsewhere. This strategic expansion is expected to further decongest key traffic corridors and open up more areas for growth and investment. KASOA MCE UNDERTAKES THE EVACUATION OF KASOA NEW MARKET DUMP SITE,April 16th April, 2026

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to supervise a two-day evacuation of the dumpsite at the Kasoa New Market, marking a significant milestone in our quest to improve sanitation and reclaim critical public space. This exercise reflects our unwavering commitment to creating a cleaner, healthier, and more organized trading environment for residents and market women and men. The removal of the dumpsite not only addresses long-standing environmental concerns but also restores confidence in our shared vision for a better Kasoa. This intervention is a major step toward the realization of the 24-Hour Economic Market Development initiative, which aims to transform the Kasoa New Market into a modern commercial hub that supports round-the-clock economic activity. With this progress, we are laying a solid foundation for increased trade, job creation, and sustainable growth within the municipality. I commend all stakeholders and sanitation workers for their dedication and cooperation, and I urge the public to continue supporting efforts to maintain cleanliness and embrace the opportunities ahead.

Awutu Senya East Municipal: A Community Facing Significant Challenges May, 2024

In a recent meeting at the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly conference hall on the 28th May, 2024, a stark picture of poverty emerged for the local community. The Multidimensional Poverty Index revealed that 52.5% of the households in the municipality are living in poverty. This statistic, based on data from the 2021 Population and Housing Census, highlights the struggles faced by many residents. The findings, presented by Regional Statistician Mr. Ernest Kpentey, showed that more than half of the household population were classified as poor, with individuals not employed seven days before the census night. Additionally, 24.3% of the population lacks health insurance, adding another layer of difficulty for many families. About 7.2% of the population lags in education, highlighting another critical area that needs attention. Despite these challenges, Awutu Senya East Municipal is in a better position compared to other districts in the Central Region. This relative advantage does not diminish the urgency for action but provides a glimmer of hope that with targeted efforts, conditions can improve. The Multidimensional Poverty Index goes beyond income, considering factors like education, healthcare, and living standards. This comprehensive approach underscores the complex nature of poverty and the need for multifaceted solutions. The findings call for a collaborative effort from local authorities, development partners, and the community to implement sustainable changes that can uplift the residents of Awutu Senya East Municipal. The Municipal Planning and Coordinating Unit (MPCU) meeting served as a crucial reminder of the ongoing challenges but also as a call to action. With concerted efforts and strategic planning, there is potential to significantly improve the lives of those in the community.
