JANUARY

GENERAL: In the month of December, the Municipal Assembly observed some activities which include: the boundary inspection between Awutu Senya East and Ga South on Thursday, 14th January, 2020, training of staff from the six zonal councils of Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly from Monday, 18th January to Thursday, 21st January 2021 held at the Assembly hall, a meeting with the Regional Information Officer on 20th January 2021 at Cape Coast, ASEMA COVID-19 task force visitation to schools to ensure safety protocols on Thursday, 21st January 2021 in the Municipality and public sensitization and education against the spread of COVID-19 held on Tuesday, 26th January 2021 at the Kasoa New-market lorry park.

 

REPORT ON THE BOUNDARY INSPECTION BETWEEN AWUTU SENYA EAST AND GA SOUTH ON THURSDAY, 14TH JANUARY, 2020.

A delegation of heads of departments and some staff from ASEMA headed by the Municipal Chief Executive Officer (MCE), Hon. Michael Essuman Mensah and the Municipal Coordinating director, Mr. Charles Kwabena Opoku embarked on an exercise to inspect the boundary between the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly (ASEMA) and the Ga South Municipal Assembly.

The delegation’s first stop was at the Iron City Zonal council where we were welcomed by the Assemblyman and staff of the zonal council.  Speaking to the gathering, the MCE highlighted that, the aim of the exercise is to identify and demarcate the administrative boundary between ASEMA and the Ga South Municipal Assembly as stipulated by the Legislative Instrument (LI).

REPORT ON THE TRAINING OF STAFF FOR THE SIX ZONAL COUNCILS OF AWUTU SENYA EAST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY FROM MONDAY, 18TH TO THURSDAY, 21ST JANUARY 2021 HELD AT THE ASSEMBLY HALL.

As part of ensuring the effectiveness of the six zonal councils namely; Kasoa, Kpometey, CP Walantu, Ofaakor, Opeikuma and Akweley Zonal councils, a four-day training program was organized by the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly (ASEMA) for the technical members of staff. The aim of the training was to educate them on how to run the Zonal councils,including the roles of each department and unit of the Assembly.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Michael Essuman Mensah in his address acknowledged the dysfunctionality of the Zonal councils having a rippling effect on the progress of the Assembly. He however stated that, the Assembly is making efforts to identify more ceded items to aid in revenue mobilization. In addition, he
pleaded with the staff to report pertinent issues to the appropriate quarters
immediately they are identified

ASEMA COVID-19 TASK FORCE VISITATION TO SCHOOLS TO ENSURE SAFETY PROTOCOLS ON THURSDAY, 21ST JANUARY, 2021 IN THE MUNICIPALITY. The task force comprised of representatives from the Municipal Education Directorate, Municipal Health Directorate and Information Services Department were to ascertain measures put in place to ensure schools’ adherence to the COVID-19 protocols after ten months of closure in schools namely; ST. Martha’s Catholic School, White Valley International School, Praise Academy and Martinet International School.

MARCH

GENERAL: In the month of March, the Municipal Assembly observed some activities which include: an emergency Municipal Health Directorate meeting held on Monday, 1st March 2021 at the Municipal Chief Executive’s office, an education oversight meeting held on Tuesday, 2nd March 2021 at the Municipal Assembly, ASEMA Health Directorate 2020 Annual Performance Review Meeting Held on 3rd March 2021 at the Mother and Child Hospital, and a Youth activist workshop held on Thursday, 25th March 2021 at the Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, Kasoa-Obom road.

REPORT ON ASEMA HEALTH DIRECTORATE 2020 ANNUAL PERFORMANCE REVIEW MEETING HELD ON 3RD MARCH, 2021 AT THE MOTHER AND CHILD HOSPITAL

The Municipal Health Directorate organized its 2020 Annual Performance Review meeting on the 3rd of March, 2021 under the theme “Achieving Universal Health Coverage, Containing the COVID-19 pandemic, Improving Good Governance and Service Performance, The Role of Stakeholders” at the conference hall of the Mother and Child hospital.

REPORT ON THE YOUTH ACTIVIST WORKSHOP HELD ON THURSDAY, 25TH MARCH, 2021 AT THE EMMANUEL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, KASOA-OBOM ROAD.

The Awutu Senya East office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) organized a maiden Youth Activist workshop in the Municipality, post-2020 general elections.

INTERFAITH YOUTH LEADERSHIP SUMMIT HELD IN KASOA ON THURSDAY, 15TH APRIL, 2021

An InterFaith Youth Leadership Summit organised by the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES) and Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly has been held at the Church of Jesus Latter -Day Saints, Kasoa in the Central Region of Ghana. The summit which was under the theme: “Strengthening the rising generation” assembled dignitaries, religious and educational leaders to grace the summit with their experience.

GENERAL: In the month of May, the Municipal Assembly observed some activities which include: the interview of the 2021 Population and Housing Census applicants at the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly from Wednesday, 5th May 2021 to Saturday, 15th May 2021, the Capacity Building training for all staff of the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly on Thursday, 6th May 2021 at the Odupong Senior High School, the administration of the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine within the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly from Wednesday, 19th May 2021 to Wednesday, 26th May 2021, the 2021 Population and Housing District Implementation Committee (DCIC) meeting for the third week in May at the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly Conference Hall and the launch of 2021 Population and Housing Census at the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly Conference Hall on 28th May 2021.

REPORT ON THE CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING FOR ALL STAFF OF THE AWUTU SENYA EAST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY ON THURSDAY, 6TH MAY, 2021 AT THE ODUPONG SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

The Municipal Human Resource Department organized a one-day capacity building training for all staff in the Municipality on the Local Government Service (LGS) Protocols on Thursday, 6th May 2021. WITHIN THE AWUTU
SENYA EAST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY FROM WEDNESDAY, 19
TH MAY, 2021 TO WEDNESDAY, 26TH MAY, 2021

Awutu Senya East
Municipal Assembly, being part of the selected few Municipalities within the
country to administer the COVID-19 vaccine received its second dose of the
COVAX vaccine on 18th May 2021. The vaccination exercise is
part of the Government of Ghana and the Ministry of Health’s relentless effort
to protect the entire population against the coronavirus pandemic.

The second phase of the vaccination targeted
some 300,000 people (i.e., those who took the first phase from 1st March to 9th
March) across the country. From Wednesday 19th May to 26th May 2021 the
administration of the second dose of the Covid 19 vaccine within the Awutu
Senya East Municipal Assembly took place across the following health centres;
Kasoa Polyclinic, Mother and Child Hospital, New Market Health Centre, Adom
Estate Health Center and Sanford Clinic.
